Where wild nature merges with architecture, haute cuisine and a spa area

The 7132 Hotel in the Swiss town of Vals is a genuine monument to architecture. In the midst of the rugged and wild landscape of Graubünden, the hotel looks like an alien object at first glance. But once you enter the hall, it becomes clear that this is part of the concept. Here, architecture and design are writ large, as are relaxation and enjoyment. The marks left by the big names of the scene over the last 60 years are omnipresent. From Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier to Kengo Kuma and Tada Ando, there is plenty to marvel at. Rooms flooded with natural light offer views of nature and the mountains, as well as subtly envisaged concepts of space that boost the relaxation factor. It was above all the Swiss architect Peter Zumthor that shaped the hotel and, not least, the famous Therme Vals hotel and spa complex. This magnificent spa landscape has already been awarded around 20 architecture prizes and offers guests a uniquely relaxing experience. In terms of gastronomy, too, the 7132 has plenty to offer. The gourmet restaurant Silver seduces the taste buds and the senses with signature dishes from the star chef Sven Wassmer. The Red Lounge indulges guests with casual dining, and the hotel’s third restaurant, Da Papa, is the place to go for a first-rate pizza. After dinner, there’s no better way to relax than a stroll through the picturesque village, whose geranium-adorned houses have defied the mountains’ icy winter weather for centuries.
